About the TMS Awards

The Maritime Standard Awards recognize excellence across the shipping, ports, and maritime sectors. The 11th edition of this prestigious event took place on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at the iconic Atlantis in Dubai. As with every previous year, it celebrated the remarkable achievements of the industry’s top performers with style and sophistication. The event's continued success and high attendance reaffirmed its position as the premier awards ceremony for the maritime industry in the Middle East and Indian Subcontinent.

More than 1,200 distinguished guests filled the grand ballroom, and once again, the TMS Awards were held under the esteemed patronage of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Airline and Group. His longstanding support has been instrumental in making the event a resounding success year after year.

Opening the proceedings, Trevor Pereira, Managing Director of TMS, remarked, “The Awards are a time of celebration. A chance to celebrate the achievements of not just our industry, but of the growing stature of the region as a whole on the maritime stage.” He emphasized that the success stories emerging from the region would be highlighted through the awards presented that evening.

The keynote address was delivered by Abdullah Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World GCC. He stated, “ This is a special occasion – an opportunity to remind ourselves of the role we play in supporting an industry that powers the global economy and keeps the world moving. Today we are celebrating our collective contribution to the shipping, ports and maritime sector and we are fortunate to have a rich maritime legacy in this region, and a national leadership with a strong vision for this sector.”

Held for the eleventh consecutive year, the Awards were hosted by Debra Stephenson, the actress and impressionist. Previous hosts have included England's legendary goalkeeper, Peter Shilton; comedian and impressionist Jon Culshaw; PR expert, journalist, and author Alistair Campbell; Dutch football icon Ruud Gullit; former CNN news anchor Jim Clancy; BBC journalist Tim Wilcox; and Bollywood star and former Miss Universe Lara Dutta.
